TRANSPORTATION::

Local transportation:
Selected thoroughfares of Midnapore have been expanded and maintained in an ongoing "Megacity" project started in 1997. The ongoing construction of the new interstate highway system which passes by Midnapore has reduced the time it takes for inhabitants to reach Kolkata. Within the city, cycle rickshaws and auto rickshaws are the main mode of local transportation.
